Hey travel bugs! We recently checked in to Hotel Spanelis in the beautiful island of Mykonos. 2 double rooms were booked as my parents joined us on this Greece trip (Hillorie’s parents). We would definitely stay here again if we are back in Mykonos. The rooms were comfy and clean, and Mrs. Spanelis is such a great host! Read below to find out more about this accommodation option.
The rooms were basic yet spacious. Our double beds were new and clean. Air con (which is a must during the summer months!) worked perfectly for us Canadians that are used to -40 degree winters. There is a mini-fridge in every room, perfect to stash your water bottles and pastries in!
This hotel was close to Chora (Mykonos Town). There is an ATV rental a few metres away which is very convenient, or you can walk into town (about 800m) to rent one there. The area does get quite dark at night as there are a lack of street lights/lamps, but not to the point where you feel unsafe. The nights we walked from Chora back to the hotel, you would pass by tons of other travelers! Be careful though, because cars are allowed to drive in this one-lane alley that goes from the town up to the hotel, so you really have to watch where you are walking and not walk in the middle of the lane!
The facilities were very clean and the view is amazing! You can see all the cruise ships on the water and the hotel is nice and quiet if you are looking to relax there. Spacious balconies in many areas so you can find a private area to have your breakfast, take some photos, or just enjoy the view. I loved doing my work out on the balcony overlooking the water. It was very serene and breathtaking… so much so that I barely got any work done!
Free breakfast is included with your stay. Breakfast spread consisted of bread and jam/butters, croissants, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, milk, and orange juice. The breakfast room looks like postcards from Greece – brightly lit and all white and blue. The setting made for perfect pictures!
Ask for a room on the upper levels for a fantastic view upon your balcony and out your windows!
The owners are very kind, be sure to call ahead of time to confirm your booking and they may offer to pick you up! Mrs. Spanelis picked us up from the port on our day of arrival and drove us to the airport on the day of our departure.
If I returned to Mykonos, I wouldn’t bother searching out other hotels to stay at – this one was perfect! Value was good too compared to all the other hotels that were upwards of 150 euros/night!
